New Opportunities for Arts Educators!

The Formative Assessment Process leads teachers and students to ask themselves three guiding questions throughout the learning process:

  • Where are we (teacher and students) going?
  • What does the student understand now?
  • How do we (teacher and students) get to the learning target?

In the arts classrooms, these guiding questions support students as they engage students in artistic practice, the creative process, and methods for delivering and receiving feedback. Self-assessment, an already valuable tool in the arts, is refined further creating more independent and discerning thinkers and artists. These guiding questions support teachers as they enhance their skills in drawing more sophisticated performances and more innovative creative work out of their students.

Within the last year, the Michigan Assessment Consortium has developed a guide for implementing the formative assessment process in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts.

Now, we are inviting arts educators to become a part of the Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators (FAME) program as members of a statewide FAME Arts Team for the 2022-2023 academic year.

To learn more about the formative assessment process in the arts, as well as the opportunities to join the FAME Arts Team, please join us on March 29, 2022 from 6-7:30pm.
