Directing/Scoring a Script

Students will assume the role of the director of the short play A Conversation with My Dogs by Merrill Markoe, with only one set piece, a chair set at center stage.

Each student will identify and mark conventions on the script using standard theatre terms. Students will identify super objective, motivations, obstacles, and costume descriptions.

This item has not been field-tested by Michigan teachers.

This is an analytic rubric. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
