Exploring Media through Multiples

Students will create four different interpretations of suns using at least four different materials. Students will show an understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technologies, and processes by making each sun different from all the others. The drawings will be assessed for creativity and an understanding and skill in varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology and processes. (Instead of a sun, teachers may select any object of their choice.)

This item has been voluntarily field-tested by Michigan teachers with a non-representative sample of students.

This is an analytic rubric. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
