Reflection on and Refinement of Group Performance

This assessment has three parts. In Part 1, students will listen to and/or watch themselves perform a piece from class in a small group that has been recorded prior to the assessment. Then they will reflect on the recording of their performance and make suggestions for improvement. In Part 2, they will practice and improve based on their reflection. Then, they will re-record themselves in their small group performance. In Part 3, they will watch this performance and reflect on the process of reflection and re-recording.

Students will be evaluated in two areas: the quality of their reflections and the improvements that were made in their performances between recordings.

This item has not been field-tested by Michigan teachers.

These are analytic rubrics. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
