The Exquisite Corpse Game

Students will construct an Artist Trading Card based on the collaborative ideas of others using 2-D media. Students will begin with a collaborative sentence-writing game originated during the surrealist art movement. Students will then illustrate the results of the collaborative sentence on their own Artist Trading Cards. At the end of the assessment, students will write a short reflection about their work and the process used to create it.

This item has been voluntarily field-tested by Michigan teachers with a non-representative sample of students.

This is an analytic rubric. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
