Michigan Department of Education Grant:
Section 33 K-5 Music and Visual Arts Grant Application
The Michigan Department of Education will open the Section 33 K-5 Music and Visual Arts Grant Application from October 12-29, 2026. This is the final year of this work project grant, with remaining funds totaling $887,202.00. These grant funds support the beginning, improving, or sustaining of K-5 music or visual arts programs and may be spent on materials and instruments used in the instruction and assessment of curricular content in music or visual arts.
The 2026-27 Section 33 K-5 Arts Grant Application Timeline:
Application window opens October 12, 2026
- Applications must be initiated in the NexSys system by 1pm on October 29, 2026
- Complete applications must be submitted in the NexSys system by 4pm on October 29, 2026
- Grant awardees will be notified by the Michigan Department of Education in December 2026
- Grant funds will be disbursed to awardees in the February 2027 School Aid payment
- All funds must be spent by September 30, 2027.
- No extensions or carryover of funds are permitted in this final year of the work project.
