Collaboration Is Key

Students will collaborate in small groups of three to five to create a short dance piece. Dancers’ collaborative efforts will be scored based on the rubric provided. For this assessment, students should be familiar with the add-on strategy in which each student is responsible for teaching his or her movement to a group. When rehearsing, students will always go back to the beginning, adding on the new movements.

This item has been voluntarily field-tested by Michigan teachers with a non-representative sample of students.

These are analytic rubrics. The column on the left shows the dimension that is being measured in the student’s performance. The levels across the top row indicate the performance level in the dimensions. Occasionally all dimensions and performance levels are exemplified by multiple students in a single recording.
